The end of the road....

 It is the 15th October 2025 and I have just discovered that the links to the photo albums displayed on each blog entry do not work and will probably not have functioned for several years.  Back in 2016 Google announced that they were dropping Picasa in favour of Google Photos with, in theory, unlimited storage.

Some time after that Picassa was no longer supported and the smooth transition of photo editing, management and uploading to and incorporating in my blog pages ended. I had to engage in complicated workarounds wich is probably why my blogs trailed off despite lots of countries and places not yet documented.

I did check at the time and things seemed to go smoothly, I assume that Google had some sort of redirect in place.  The links now point to a non-existant web server and I would have to generate replacements which I am not convinced is worth it.  I have been paying Google for storage for years as the unlimited storage only applies to small file formats. I have always loaded the highest quality images so that decent prints could be made if anyone wished to do so.  I also pay for the domain name "onemantravelling.com".

Does anyone still visit these pages? I you do please leave a comment.  I shall then decide whether or not to delete the content and give up the name.

I have enjoyed my travels and telling you about them so thank you to all the wonderful people I have met and all those who have read or followed the blogs.  Despite Googles adverts inserted into the pages I haven't made any money, it was never my intention. I did it to spread information about our wonderful planet.

 It is the 25th November 2017 as I write this on the 7th November 2022.... Hi folks, well it's some time since I wrote so here goes.... I had a visit from a good friend of mine recently who was a self confessed avid reader of my blogs. I explained that, as a result of my epic train journey across  my epic train journey giving so much material it became a daunting task to catch up. My return to the UK at the time of our permanent departure from the European Union rapidly followed by the Covid lockdown and subsequent economic turmoil including the war in Ukraine reduced my frame of mind to mush. I could not bring myself to "blog".  I feel especially sad about the Russian/Ukrainian situation as these were both countries I would have liked to visit at the time of my residence in Bulgaria. Hot, Hot, Hot....

  Covid has receded but most of us are still confined to camp, No summer holidays abroad this year so the Mediterranean climate has come to us. The island has seen an influx of visitors from surrounding counties and London all eager to sample the beaches and laid back lifestyle which the island affords. We have beaches, mostly pebble, but sandcastles can be found. We have beach cafes and ice-cream. We have fish and chips, in my view the best can be found at the funfair. Yes we have a funfair and an amazement arcade. We also have fitness machines a skate-board park, kitesurfing, and all manor of water sports. And... we have music... lots of it during the summer. On the east side of the island we have the Lifeboat station whilst on the west we find the ferryboat, yes a pub/restaurant and a boat which takes you to Eastney. Hot Hoods on Hayling

It was a dark and stormy night... well not really it was actually a dark overcast morning dodging the rain after meeting friends for coffee. What a shame as, pencilled in my diary was a meet at 18:00 hrs (6pm) down on the seafront around John's Café near the Inn on the Beach restaurant. I had seen it advertised that it was to be held on the 1st Tuesday of the month during the summer. Unfortunately I missed it last month. How unfortunate that I would miss it again. But, as you can see, the sun came out during the late afternoon so I set off on my trusty trike at about 5, stopping at the Pebble Beach for a coffee and cheeseburger. Preplanning see... the event would either be crowded or John's Café would be closed. I peddled along to the site of the event at about 18:30 hrs (6.30 pm) to find the approach road lined with all manner of custom cars.
